Howdy, young artists!
Get ready to saddle up and show off your creativity! This is your chance to celebrate the excitement of rodeo and have your artwork shine at the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

Open for ages 8-12 to design the official Saturday Matinee daysheet cover and share your unique rodeo style with fans from all over. It’s your time to get creative, have fun, and be part of the action!”

Prizing

The winning artist will receive:

  • A CFR prize pack with merchandise and giveaways

  • 4 tickets to the Saturday Matinee performance

    • (Travel not included for out-of-province winners)

    • (Tickets for immediate household/family members will be provided if this exceeds 4)

  • Their artwork featured as the official Daysheet cover

  • A featured artist spotlight, including name, and short bio on the daysheet

How It Works

  1. Participants submit one original, hand-drawn design through the official entry form in adherence with the rules, regulations, and criteria found here: Rules and Regulations

  2. All entries are reviewed and judged internally by the CFR brand & design team using the determined criteria

  3. The top 5 designs are selected by the judges

  4. Finalists’ designs will be featured on Facebook & Instagram

  5. The public votes via a poll to determine the winning design

The 2026 Daysheet Design Contest aims to:

  • Connect the Canadian Finals Rodeo with the community by creating a fun and inclusive way for local families to get involved

  • Build excitement and anticipation for CFR by engaging kids and families in the lead-up to the event

  • Provide a platform for young artists to showcase their creativity and be recognized in a meaningful way

  • Celebrate western heritage and rodeo culture through youth-driven artistic expression

  • Engage schools, teachers, and families in a community-based activity tied to a major event

  • Foster a sense of pride and accomplishment by featuring youth artwork in a professional setting

  • Expand CFR’s reach and audience through participant networks, families, and social sharing

  • Inspire the next generation to connect with agriculture, rodeo, and western traditions

Key Requirements:

  1. Be aged 8-12 years old at the time of submission.

  2. All designs must be the contestants own work and not copied or traced from other sources

  3. It must reflect a rodeo or western theme & must include “Canadian Finals Rodeo” or “CFR”

  4. Each Participant may submit only one design

  5. Any drawing materials, crayons, markers, pencil crayons, etc. are allowed, but no digital artwork

  6. Late entries will not be accepted and judging decisions are final

  7. By entering, participants agree that the organization may use, reproduce, and display the artwork for promotional purposes

  8. Winners will be contacted using the information provided on the entry form

  9. If including text, event name, date, etc., it must be clear and easy to read

  10. Artwork should be completed by the child with no help from adults or those out of the competition guidelines

Judging Criteria

1. Creativity & Design – 20 points

We’re looking for fun, creative ideas!

  • Is the artwork unique and different?

  • Did the artist use their imagination?

2. Theme & Connection – 20 points

Does the artwork show rodeo spirit? The design should clearly connect to rodeo and the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

  • Does the artwork reflect rodeo events, western lifestyle, or traditions (like cowboys, horses, barrels, etc.)?

  • Can we clearly tell it’s about the Canadian Finals Rodeo?

3. Effort & Detail – 20 points

Show us your best work!

  • Does the artwork look like time and care was put into it?

  • Are there details that make the drawing more interesting?

4. Neatness & Presentation – 20 points

Make it clean and easy to see!

  • Is the artwork neat and easy to understand?

  • Is the colouring done carefully?

  • If there are words, are they easy to read?

5. Use of Space – 20 points

Fill the page in a great way!

  • Does the design use most of the page?

  • Is it nicely balanced (not too empty and not too crowded)?
